本文介绍了美国对有重要历史价值的建筑和遗址,在编制文物保护档案方面的规定,以及制订规划、鉴定等级等方面的做法。作者还结合自己从事文物建筑保护工作的经验,提出了一系列查阅文献、现场调查、拍照、测绘、制订修复方案和绘制施工图等的具体措施和要求。对我国文物保护工作人员如何积累文物建筑的档案资料有不少启发和可资借鉴之处。

This lecture is the second of four lectures given by Dr.Albert.It deals with the documentation of architecturally and historically significant building and sites for historic preservation in the United States.Policies and regulations for the documentation promulgated by governmental agencies are discussed, with rich experience in historic preservation, the author puts forward methods of field survey and investigation, measures of collecting historical data and records, requirements of graphic records including measured drawings and photography, and matters needing attention for restoration work and working drawings.
